Completed in 2007, Cherapa Place stands where the Zip Feed Mill (South Dakota’s largest building) once stood and is the catalyst for river greenway and other development on the east bank in downtown.

Situated on the east bank of the Big Sioux River in downtown Sioux Falls, this six story office building with underground parking is designed with a two story base of local stone which appears to rise organically from the riverfront and a curved upper section oriented to maximize views of the river and Falls Park.

Green Building

  • Native grasses as landscape to almost eliminate watering requirements
  • Use of local materials such as quartzite
  • White Roof and Green Roof.
  • High Gloss Glass - the amount of glass used allows for optimal views and daylight access for our employees.
  • Toilets that offer a choice in water flow depending on if it's solid or liquid waste
  • Certified Wood - The wood in our building comes from environmentally certified forests
  • Direct/Indirect sensor lighting
  • Preferred parking for Hybrid vehicles
  • 80% of construction waste was diverted from landfill. It’s been recycled.
  • Education, tours, and speaking engagements – We’ve made a commitment to spread the word about LEED

  • Creative Spirit of Cherapa

Our goal is to establish a diverse collection of artwork that will serve as a reflection of the quality, style and environment of the building and the integrity of its users. The collection ranges from bronze and mixed metal sculptures on the exterior to paint, photography and mixed media on the interior. Each piece was hand-selected to beautifully integrate into our space.

We invite to you to view the works. The namesake our building, Cherapa, is a metal buffalo sculpture that majestically greets guests in the circle drive. It was purchased in first year of Sculpture Walk.
